Hollingdean and Stanmer Branch Labour Party, known to us locally as HS Branch, covers the neighbourhoods of Hollingdean, North Moulsecoomb, Coldean and Stanmer, from Hollingbury Park sweeping down to the CityClean depot and the Gyratory, skirting the Lewes Road up passed the University of Brighton, to North Moulsecoomb, Wild Park, Coldean, the University of Sussex and Stanmer Park.
We hold regular members’ meetings and campaigning activities. All meetings start at 7.30pm and venues alternate between either St Richard’s Church Hall or City Gate in Hollingdean (H) and Larchwood Café in Coldean (C), as indicated. At other times you may find us running a street stall at Fiveways, or helping other Pavilion Labour friends with one of our town centre stalls. Our members also support Action For Rail campaigning at Moulsecoomb station.
HS Branch can be contact by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The Branch is chaired by Sarah and our Secretary is Adam.
All three of our ward councillors were elected in 2015 as Labour representatives and we intend to keep it that way in 2019. Come along to our campaigning sessions to help our Labour local government candidates – Phil Clarke, Theresa Fowler and Tracey Hill – get elected in 2019.
Hollingdean & Stanmer Labour Councillors have their own page on Facebook . Currently these are:
Councillor Tracey Hill
Councillor Caroline Penn
Councillor Michael Inkpin-Leissner
We were saddened when Councillor Inkpin-Leissner decided to resign the Labour Whip and to sit as an Independent Councillor rather than as the Labour Councillor the people of Hollingdean & Stanmer voted for.
We are always sad when any member chooses to leave the Labour Party. We regret that Councillor Inkpin-Leissner did not discuss his concerns with us, his local Labour Party, before deciding to leave the largest progressive organisation in Brighton exactly when we need to unite against both bigotry and Tory austerity.
Hollingdean and Stanmer Branch, as part of Brighton Pavilion Labour Party, will continue to campaign in the interests of all local people, to defend the rights of all migrants, including EU citizens, and to oppose racism in all its forms.
